they’ve just put on the Net a translation in English of an historical essay, « Massacres du Sud » by A. Dumas (not a novel). It gives a very detailed account of the Camisard War.Hope this helps, and we’ll be in touch ASAP.

Here is another Website which can lead you to other sources :
http://www.frenchchurch.freeserve.co.uk/Book7.html
It also contains a « Huguenot Ring » which might be helpful.

Sources in English are relatively rare. Jean Cavalier published his memoirs in English, and Maximilien Misson’s Theatre des Cevennes was also published in English by Lacy as « Cry from the Desert. » Three books in English discuss the subject in part: Hillel Schwarz, _The French Prophets_, Clark Garrett, _From the Camisards to the Shakers_, and Patrice Higonnet, _Pont de Montvert_. I have also published an article on the Cadets de la Croix in the Proceedings of the Western Society for French History.
Beyond that, the war was discussed by British diplomats of the period in their published correspondence.

It is titled _Let God Arise: The War and Rebellion of the Camisards_, I am deeply grateful to M. Pierre Rolland and all those in the Cévennes who have helped me in my research for this book, the first by an academic press in English solely devoted to « nos » camisards!
